The Federation of European Risk Management Associations (FERMA) was created under the name of AEAI ‘European Association of Insureds of Industries’ (AEAI) as an International Association with scientific aim of exchanging ideas and experiences. It was founded in 1974 with three main objectives promoting professionalism, taking care of the need of education, and allowing its members to exchange views, ideas and experience. The six founders were Belgium (GAI-VVI), France (GACI), Germany (VIV), Italy (ANRA), UK (AIRMIC) and the Netherlands (AOG).
As a way of improving its influence, expanding membership to other countries has always be taken in serious part and constant consideration. Follows a short presentation of the successive Presidents in charge of the association since the beginning.
