
On the occasion of the next Forum in Stockholm from 2nd to 5th October 2011, and with the aim to support FERMA with its Professionals Development Initiative, Lloyd’s proposes to host and sponsor a development programme for talented risk managers with 3 to 5 years of experience.
Subjects to be covered by the programme include:
- Lloyd’s history and overview
- Understanding and accessing the Lloyd’s Market. This includes working sessions with Brokers and Managing Agents
- Performance Management at Lloyd’s
- The International Regulatory Context
- International Markets
- Claims
- Emerging risks
Lloyd’s proposes to host participants during 3 x 2 days of sessions at Lloyd’s in London in April 2012, October 2012 and April 2013.
Travel to and from London and accommodation costs during sessions are borne by the candidates or their employers and any other expenses incurred by the candidates. Lloyd’s will provide presenters, the venue and meals during the sessions.
Lloyd’s also encourages all participants to complete the Lloyd’s & London Market Introductory Test (LLMIT) which is available online. This will enable candidates to obtain the LLMIT certificate.
Participants are selected by the FERMA selection Committee that will irrevocably select candidates submitted by FERMA’s Associations. Each association has the right to submit several candidates. Selected candidates to participate in this first programme will be announced during the FERMA Risk Management Forum 2011 in Stockholm, in the Plenary Session on Monday 3 October, from 11:15.
Coordinators for the contents and execution of the programme are Edouard Thys, Director of Education FERMA and Benno Reischel, Head of Northern Europe for Lloyd’s.
Selection criteria (Selection by an appointed “FERMA Selection Committee”)
- Number of participants is limited to maximum 15 every 2 years and of at least 5 different nationalities
- Experience of 3-5 years is required
- Applicant needs to be active as Risk Manager (Risk & Insurance Manager) or employed in Risk Management department of member of FERMA Association at the time of the first session of the programme
- Good knowledge of the English language both spoken and written
