Examination details
Certification levels
Candidates who have passed the exam successfully will be granted with the rimap® certification:
- Entry level: For theoretical knowledge in risk management (students or those without effective experience in risk management).
- Professional level: For practical knowledge in risk management with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the field, even if not continuous, in the 5 years preceding the request for certification.
- Advanced level: For those who have followed the rimap® Advanced Workshop and have 10 years of experience in the field, even if not continuous, in the 15 years preceding the request for certification.
To upgrade your certification from Entry level to Professional level, you will need to provide FERMA with objective evidence of your employment in risk management and pay the upgrade fee (as per LHWC published rates).
Eligibility
You can apply for the rimap® certification at any time without specific eligibility criteria. However, you’ll need to provide your education level and years of experience in Risk Management.
Education:
- Master’s degree or equivalent: Postgraduate academic degree, though the name may vary by country.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent: Undergraduate degree obtained before pursuing postgraduate education.
Experience:
- Calculate your years of experience based on full-time work in Risk Management, including related fields like insurance, law, audit/finance, health and safety, and business continuity.
- One year of experience equals 12 full-time months.

Application process
- Go to https://www.lhwc.ch/en/prodotto/rimap-certification and choose “First Certification”
- Enroll in the certification and pay the enrollment.
- Once your application and payment have been confirmed, our certification partner LHWC will contact you for enrollment with your credentials to access the certification platform, which will allow you to:
- Access learning materials and practice questions
- Choose your examination date
- Upload your documents in your personal area necessary for certification (ID and CV), renewal, and upgrades
- Take the mock exam and/or the exam
- Download your certificates when obtained and manage all the renewals and upgrades
The day of the exam
- Technical requirements: computer, internet connection, 3 hours continuous availability without disruption
- 2-hour online exam with 100 questions
- Real-time technical support in English, one hour before the beginning of the examination and during the entire duration of the examination
Exam results are automated through the computer system. The candidate will be notified within a week of their result by the FERMA LHWC team.

Examination dates
Certification online exams are held monthly from 10 to 12 am CET (Central European Time, Brussels, Paris, Berlin, Madrid, Milan). Please make sure to log in 30 minutes before to check your connectivity and solve any potential technical issue. An ID will be required at the time of the exam by our supervisor. Exam dates for 2024:
