Who is François Malan, our winner for Private Sector Risk Manager of the Year Award 2020?
Francois has been an AMRAE member for 20 years and has huge experience in managing insurance programmes for major French corporations including Hermès, Nexity and now Eiffage.
He describes the role of a risk manager as a business partner who supports the changes and innovations of their company, and also a temple guardian who reassures the top management and helps them to make the right decisions.
On top of all that, they must be courageous, have a free mind, be curious, optimistic and charismatic.

François Malan is a great example of someone who has developed from a technical insurance specialist to a full risk management position in a complex industry. This award recognises a combination of innovation, risk management best practice and the ability to foresee risks and anticipate dangerous endings.
